Understanding direct cremation
A straightforward farewell without a formal funeral service
Direct cremation is a dignified alternative to a traditional funeral. The cremation takes place privately, without mourners attending the crematorium.
Your loved one is brought into our local care, treated with respect and placed in a simple coffin. Our team completes the required arrangements and accompanies them to a local crematorium for the unattended cremation.
Simple does not mean impersonalYour family receives the same professional care and guidance, while remaining free to remember the person who has died in your own way and at a time that feels right.

“A simple cremation, supported by people who understand your family and your local community.”
Optional personal choices
Additional ways to say goodbye
Some families would like a private moment or small service before the cremation. These choices can be arranged by appointment.
Chapel Visit
Spend quiet, private time with your loved one in one of our peaceful chapels of rest before the cremation.
Dressing Your Loved One
Our team can dress your loved one in their own clothes, prepared carefully and with dignity.
Private Chapel Service
A private service may be held at our Oxley chapel, with comfortable seating for up to 16 family members and friends and support from our celebrant.
Optional services are subject to availability and suitability. Our team will confirm the arrangements and complete cost before anything is agreed.
Remembering them your way
A personal memorial can take place when the time feels right
Choosing direct cremation gives your family the freedom to hold a memorial, celebration of life or private gathering separately from the cremation.
There is no need to arrange everything immediately. You might choose a favourite venue, a gathering at home, a scattering ceremony or a quiet family occasion. What matters is creating something personal and meaningful to you.
